Sue Ryder is a national healthcare charity that provides expert care and support to people facing life’s toughest challenges.

Whether it’s end-of-life care, bereavement support, or help for those living with neurological conditions, their work touches thousands of lives across the UK. In 2018/19 alone, they delivered over 2.2 million hours of care, with more than 1,000 nurses and doctors working in hospices and neurological centres

The Challenge

To support their fundraising, Sue Ryder runs over 420 charity shops, all powered by LS Retail’s management system. In 2017, they implemented Dynamics NAV 2015, starting with Head Office and their warehouse, before rolling it out to every shop over nine months. Committed to making every penny count, they regularly review supplier relationships to ensure they’re getting the best value, so more funds can go directly to patient care. By 2019, they felt their Dynamics NAV support partner wasn’t delivering the value they needed. Our free Health Check revealed several opportunities to improve system stability and streamline stock taking in stores. That insight led Sue Ryder to make the switch to us.

The Solution

We began with a smooth onboarding process, which Ralph Larcombe, EPoS Systems Manager at Sue Ryder, described as “very good”. One of the first priorities was improving the stock taking process. One of our Lead Consultants wrote the specification and delivered the project exactly as scoped. “Spot on – not a penny or hour over what it took,” Ralph confirmed. That accuracy was vital for Sue Ryder, who need to budget carefully to ensure funds are directed to frontline services. Corey added, “Their business provides a tremendous service to those in need of it, so assisting them in any way I can is something I was very happy to do.”

We introduced efficiencies in stock count preparation, simplified time-consuming processes, and made targeted changes to reporting. These updates helped Sue Ryder better manage stock across their 400+ stores.

The Results

The improvements have made a real difference. Ralph shared, “I couldn’t praise your teams more because of the way they engage and deliver what we require.” With the stock taking process now running more smoothly, Sue Ryder is planning further enhancements. These include upgrading their website, introducing drop shipping for some products, and expanding their use of NAV.
