The Client

Tangle Teezer was born from a moment of insight in a salon chair. After years working at renowned salons like Nicky Clarke, Toni & Guy and Vidal Sassoon, founder Shaun Pulfrey saw the need for a brush that detangled hair quickly and gently. That idea sparked in 2003 and led to the creation of the first professional detangling hair tool.

Although Dragon’s Den turned him down in 2007, viewers were intrigued. The website was flooded, and by 2008, the original Tangle Teezer was stocked in Boots. Since then, the brand has become a global success, selling 20 units every minute in 85 countries. Celebrities like Emma Watson and Cara Delevingne are fans, and the brush has been praised by magazines including Bella, Cosmopolitan, Grazia and Harper’s Bazaar. Tangle Teezer has also earned two Queen’s Awards for innovation and international trade.

It’s the definition of partnership. Node4 feel like they’re in it to help us get what we need for our business – not the money".

The Challenge

As Tangle Teezer expanded internationally, its systems struggled to keep up. The company had relied on Sage, a financial system designed for UK businesses. But with new entities in the USA and China, managing transactions and gaining visibility across regions became increasingly difficult. Third-party systems were used to track stock, orders and dispatches, adding complexity.

Dan Nicholson, Head of IT, explained that  “Rapid business growth combined with having multiple systems doing completely different tasks was a nightmare. We wanted to simplify everything and were looking for

The Solution

Tangle Teezer began searching for a new ERP partner, attending trade events and shortlisting suppliers. Initially, we weren’t on the list. But a trusted recommendation from NetEDI, whose system is used by Tangle Teezer’s customers, changed that.

Dan recalled, “As soon as we met Noe4 (formerly TNP), it was clear they better suited our business requirements and their approach matched our culture far more closely than the original two candidates ever could. We were on the same level and it just felt right.”

Tangle Teezer chose Microsoft Dynamics NAV from TNP, starting with the US region. The solution integrated with NetEDI, streamlining order management and document exchange. It also connected with their Magento-powered e-commerce platform, strengthening the order process for staff and customers.

The Results

The impact was immediate. Dynamics NAV halved the time spent on month-end consolidated accounts and was delivered on time and under budget. Integration with NetEDI and Magento improved visibility and efficiency across operations.

A standout achievement was the serialisation solution to combat counterfeit goods. Dan explained, “We are particularly proud of our serialisation solution… The best bit is the system now integrates with Dynamics NAV giving us instant and clear visibility of our distributor supply chain.”

Customer onboarding was transformed. Previously taking eight months and three systems, it now takes just one month and two systems. Reporting also became more strategic. “Deploying TNP's solution has dramatically reduced the administrative time associated with completing month-end reports,” Dan added. “Our finance team has gone from simply churning data to channelling their energies and talents into tasks that benefit the company in a highly strategic way.”

The Node4 Difference

We focus on making our clients’ solutions successful, and Tangle Teezer’s experience reflects our commitment to long-term relationships and genuine care.

Dan concluded, “What impresses us most is Node4’s (formerly TNP) approach to doing business. That their priority lies in making our solution and our business a success rather than theirs really comes across. It’s so obvious they are looking for a long-term relationship rather than short-term monetary gain. They are a caring, good bunch of people. Their team is brilliant and I really can’t fault them.”
