Pearce Seeds
Future-Proofing Agriculture with Dynamics 365 Business Central Online
The Client
Pearce Seeds is a leading supplier of agricultural chemicals, seeds, fertilisers, feed and agronomy services across the South West of England.
With around 100 permanent or contracted staff and over 210,000 items sold annually, Pearce Seeds supports farmers and growers with everything from soil sampling and nutrient management plans to animal health and stewardship applications.
The relationship between us has been brilliant over the years, epitomised by the upgrade project and especially Lianne, our Project Manager, who has been exceptional.
The Challenge
Pearce Seeds faced a failed implementation of Dynamics NAV with another partner. The project stalled, communication broke down, and confidence in the system was lost. In search of a new ERP partner, they turned to Node4, drawn by their honesty and upfront feedback.
A few years later, Pearce Seeds began planning an upgrade to Dynamics 365 Business Central Online. But the Covid pandemic delayed those plans. By early 2023, the time was right to move forward and the relationship with Node4 made the decision easy.
The Solution
We delivered a successful upgrade to Dynamics 365 Business Central Online, Microsoft’s SaaS ERP platform. The solution replaced a heavily modified NAV 2016 system with a more standardised, flexible setup using extensions and Node4’s nHanced products.
Key elements included, migration to Business Central Online, removal of direct code modifications, use of extensions for easier future updates and project management tailored to seasonal trading deadlines.

The Results
The project was delivered on time and under budget, providing Pearce Seeds with a simplified upgrade path for future releases. The new solution enhanced agility and scalability while creating a platform designed to handle seasonal complexity and business growth. With Business Central Online in place, Pearce Seeds is now well-equipped to manage its busiest trading periods, including autumn seed production and distribution which is a highly time-sensitive process involving growers, treatment, bagging, and logistics.

The Node4 Difference
This wasn’t just an upgrade, it was a strategic leap. We helped Pearce Seeds move from a legacy ERP setup to a modern, cloud-first platform that’s built to scale, adapt and evolve.
By understanding the unique pressures of agricultural trading, we delivered a solution that fits the rhythm of the business, not the other way around. It’s a partnership rooted in trust, delivered with precision, and designed to grow with the land it serves.
